What if I Want to Continue Working?
If you continue working after retirement, either for personal fulfillment or financial need, there are some things you should consider.

It’s possible to continue working and receive Social Security benefits, but there are income limits, and the benefit will be reduced. Starting with the month you reach full retirement age, you can get your benefits with no limit on your earnings. A higher benefit later, a result of waiting to collect Social Security, may be more beneficial to you and your survivors later.

If you have other retirement accounts, such as a 401(k) or IRA, minimum distribution requirements may apply, generally when you reach age 70 ˝. Be sure to speak with your financial representative about your particular situation.

Of course, for many people, retirement can also mean the start of a new career! There’s an old adage that says “find something you love to do, and figure out a way to make money at it.” With your good retirement planning in place, this may be the best time to turn those interests into something more rewarding!
